Presently, I serve as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), under the guidance of Professor Xiaojuan Ma. In June 2022, I obtained my Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University (THU). My thesis, titled The Conversational User Interface Design Method Based on Emotional Design Theory, was awarded the Outstanding Thesis Award and was supervised by Professor Yingqing Xu.
While artificial intelligence (AI) has made remarkable strides in language processing capabilities, the conversational experience between humans and AI systems remains starkly distinct from human-to-human interactions. My research investigates the integration of both verbal and non-verbal communication techniques—derived from human dialogue dynamics—into AI frameworks, aiming to cultivate engaging, efficiency-optimized, and trust-driven conversational user interfaces, exlporing the **emotional design for conversational AIs**. This approach seeks to bridge the gap between human communication norms and AI interaction design, enhancing user satisfaction and fostering deeper human-AI collaboration.
My prior research encompasses a diverse range of subjects, including aging, customer service, accessibility, mental health, art, and creativity. My works have been presented at top conferences and journals such as CHI, CSCW, and IEEE Transactions. Meanwhile, I have held the position of Associate Chair for CSCW since 2023, and Executive Committee Member of the CCF HCI Committee since 2022.
